The return of the club favourite (nearly) annual trip: Gola! This is very much the spiritual home of the club being the first ever trip back in 2017.
Gola is a wonderful island off the west coast of Donegal, a one-mile-square lump of pink granite steeped in history situated off the coast of Bunbeg, Gaoth Dobhair. On what other Atlantic island will you find a Marian shrine, a 9/11 memorial, a memorial to the Irish Revolution, and a Suzuki Jimny with the keys left in it that the owner allows you to use?
We will be wild camping, this means no facilities, you will need to bring all of your food for the trip to the island and there are no toilets or showers, the sea will be your bathroom (byo toilet roll). There will be a fresh water tap a short walk from the campsite which you can get drinking water from.
Gola is Traditional (Trad) Climbing, we expect any participants on this trip to have a degree of experience with trad climbing and know how to competently belay.
This trip is strictly members only.
